During the school holidays I try to purchase some cheap crafty kits. Many of the dollar shops and the like have plenty of them around, and I can normally get different ones each holidays. What I should do is start putting together a box that sits in the top of the wardrobe, and the next time one of my boys says they are bored I will get it out.
Anyway our local shops has just gained one said dollar shops … and it actually is quite a good one, I hope that it lasts! Last week when I was with the boys I picked up these neat glitter and sand art sets .. they looked at me like I was crazy and you could see that they really weren’t that enthused …
Well, they got them out on the weekend … and did not stop doing them for hours … then got them out on the next day .. and the next .. and well you get the idea. They were completely enthralled. Unfortunately now our house is covered from top to tail in glitter, but they have had a ball. I want to get some frames for the finished products so I have to measure them, they look slightly bigger than A4, but that may not be an issue, if I can trim them without losing too much of the picture.
I haven’t taken any final pictures yet, will do that when all three boys have finished both their pictures .. but here are some of the working shots …

We had a lovely day, a couple of caches at Lake Ginn, some playing at the playground at John Knight Park, followed up by lunch and a new pair of shoes for Tom at the mall. We were very blessed with a beautiful winter day of the sun shining, albeit a little bit chilly!

and then a view across the Lake … really very beautiful!

I always totally love the look of concentration on Will’s face when he is doing things .. I can’t but help to take tons of photos .. only problem is I then end up with lots of photos of him concentrating .. hehe

As usual, in the school holidays, we try to have a number of crafty projects on the go .. here are some snippets of what we have been doing today.
Jordan and Tom were creating something .. in the end I think it turned into weapons, but I must admit they all played well. Like something out of an Adventure Game for quite a while, no injuries and no tears, so thats a good thing!

Then we discovered some fantastic Toilet Paper Roll Pokemon characters to make, Will & Tom are totally immersed with Pokemon at the moment. It is amazing that something that was created some 14 years ago is still so popular with kids. A whole new generation of them that are Pokemon Crazy! Anyway at DLTK, they have these fantastic templates for creating these fabulous Pokemon! They also have templates for a heap more animals and other critters .. DLTK is one of my favourite sites, for quick and easy craft activities and templates.
These templates come in coloured, or black outline, and Will has had great fun with both!

And lastly some modelling clay, as always is quite popular!

William lost another tooth overnight, this one was sitting in his mouth when he woke up, very lucky not to swallow. So just had to post some ultra cute, toothless smiles from the boy!

Will is trying so hard at school, and is starting to make good progress which is fantastic to see. Today he wrote out a birthday card for a friend, and although he was copying what I wrote I was so proud of his effort. His handwriting is getting so neat!

We had a Joey Scout Sleepover tonight, and the theme was things you see at night. We did a bit of a night tour and saw the following …
First of all we saw the ‘Touching Lightly’ sculpture at the Canberra Glassworks. Although it does look speccy at first glance, it doesn’t actually do anything, so it did get a bit boring …

I had a quick go at an artistic photo .. this shot was taken of Will swinging his torch around, he moved out of shot before the long exposure finished so it doesn’t look like he is even there.

The we went up to Mt Ainslie and looked at the night view, it is lovely up there!

And lastly we visited the ‘Illumicube‘ outside the Canberra Centre. It is very cool, and is motion activated. So the Joeys ran around it lots to make it change colours.

A late night then ensued as we had a campfire, made UV paintings and ate yummy possum meringues! A fun time had by all.

William and I took off on the trailer bike, in search of a playground. Sam came along for a ride as well, but he left early. It is nice to find new little playgrounds hidden away in the suburbs just off of the bike tracks ..

We got our trailer bike all set up, and thought this morning would be the perfect time to test it out! I looked up a local cache so that we could go riding with a purpose and off we went! Jordan found this cache pretty quickly all by himself, you can see the photos of this on our Geocaching Log.
After the cache, we rode by via the playground. William was feeling a whole heap better after having a bit of a crappy day yesterday, although I am sure he will fade a bit by later this afternoon.
Ignore the terrible photo of me, but here is our trailer bike in action, and a couple of playground shots!

William was a little bit nervous to begin with, but as you can see from this photo he was a lot more comfortable on it by the end! Hopefully there will be lots more riding adventures to be had!

We didn’t do a whole lot today. It was a bit rainy and horrible and I had an awfully sore throat so I took it easy. William had a bit of a relapse and was feeling rather horrid as well.
I did start some knitting though, making a jumper for William seeing as he is the only one of the three that would wear it, now that it is starting to cool down I don’t mind doing a bit of knitting.
We did go out to dinner for Jordan’s birthday, unfortunately William got sick whilst we were out and vomited at the table (luckily in a lunch box we had handy). Sam took him home, we quickly finished our dinner and went home as well. I forgot to take a photo at dinner, as we were all worrying about William.
So that was our day, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more active!
