Things you can see at night

We had a Joey Scout Sleepover tonight, and the theme was things you see at night. We did a bit of a night tour and saw the following …

First of all we saw the ‘Touching Lightly’ sculpture at the Canberra Glassworks. Although it does look speccy at first glance, it doesn’t actually do anything, so it did get a bit boring …

I had a quick go at an artistic photo .. this shot was taken of Will swinging his torch around, he moved out of shot before the long exposure finished so it doesn’t look like he is even there.

The we went up to Mt Ainslie and looked at the night view, it is lovely up there!

And lastly we visited the ‘Illumicube‘ outside the Canberra Centre. It is very cool, and is motion activated. So the Joeys ran around it lots to make it change colours.

A late night then ensued as we had a campfire, made UV paintings and ate yummy possum meringues! A fun time had by all.

Space Junk Rockets!

Tom had a fun time at cubs making a Space Rocket. They needed to go to Cubs with a plan of what they were going to do, and also with the bits they needed to create it. Apparently Tom finished his pretty quickly!

Totally Spies!

Joeys have been having a Spy series of activities combined with another Joey Mob. It has been fantastic, a lot of fun! Tonight saw the Joeys go to a local park and go on a hunt to find the Double Agent and collect the prize!

The kids had to go in disguise, so of course William went as Batman (although I was expecting Ben10) .. I didn’t take a whole heap of photos .. but I did get some lovely ones of William on the playground before hand …

Totally love this photo!

Swing me mum .. Please!

National Multicultural Festival & Kenny the Koala

For work, we had a Scouts ACT stand at the Festival. Luckily only for the one day, although I am sure there would have been more people around on the Saturday, rather than the Sunday. A few people did brave the muggy weather and it was quite successful.

Jordan decided to come and help, he loves to put his hand up for this kind of thing! He even got up close with Kenny the Koala.

More Landcaring

We had a bit of promotional opportunity at Landcare today. WIN News was doing a bit of publicity, and the boys went down in their Scout Uniform. And then would you believe that we missed it! I totally forgot to set up the DVD recorder, what a bugger! Anyway I am on the search for it, and have contacted a couple of media monitoring groups to try and get a copy. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Just a few snaps taken ..

And of course there was the obligatory playground visit

How cool is that? Twister in the playground. It was a lot of fun!

Low Ropes Course

As well as off-site activities, there was a heap of on-site activities as well. Low-Ropes, Brownsea Island, Circus, Laser Skirmish, the list goes on. The Scouts didn’t get to do all the activities, but they did get to do a fair few of them.

Some more pics, courtesy of Emu, of Jordan combating the Low Ropes.

ugh .. just ignore the colour of the socks, they all went into the bin on returning home!

Water Activities at Chowder Bay

Another off-site activity was Water Activities at Chowder Bay. I don’t know all of the specifics, but I do know that Jordan had a ball (as did all the Scouts I talked to about it).

Here are some photos that Jordan too of the day (not sure what is with the diagonal photos, I think he was being artistic!)

Tom & Will at the Jamboree

Sam and theĀ  boys came for a visit on Visitors Day. It was great to see them, and fantastic that they could experience a taste of what Jordan & I were doing. I think they were all surprised at the lack of ‘luxuries’. It was a shame that it was such a hot day, and that it was so busy (over 20 000 at Cataract Park that day).

I didn’t have my camera with me when we were wandering around, but I did snap this photo of them with my phone just as they were leaving.

Emu also took this photo outside their Gateway which was great!
