Yay for Buddy!

This idea definitely seems to be a tradition in schools these day, they have a classroom friend (teddy, animal whatever ..) that goes home with different children every day. You take photos, draw pictures and then write a story about your time together. You may remember Iggy from last year, he stayed with us for a couple of weekends! William was always heartbroken when it wasn’t his turn!

Anyway, in their class this year they have Buddy. Buddy is a big snuggly teddy bear! And again we went through tears every night when Buddy didn’t come home! But finally, he has! We didn’t take many photos of Buddy visiting, although Tom & Will wrote the story together. It was lovely to see that brother time!

Jordan’s First Day

Well today saw me taking Jordan to school for his first day at high school! I was expecting tears, but I didn’t. I was more just proud of him! He settled in pretty quickly, and didn’t hang around, didn’t even really turn back when he got divided up into his Pastoral Care Group! Hopefully he has a great day, guess I will find out all about it this afternoon!

Just thought I would share the photo I took of Jordan’s first day of primary school, compared to a photo today (mind you he wasn’t overly happy about letting me take a photo today!).

This was the best shot I got this morning …

My boys is growing up I guess!

Year 6 Graduation

I cannot believe it, my baby boy is graduating from primary school and is going to head into high school next year .. unbelievable. At the last minute we changed what he was going to wear, but I think he looked pretty cool!

And with the wonderful Miss Love, without whom Jordan’s last year would have been a whole lot tougher!

Dress-up Disco time

It is still really hot here in Canberra, really humid actually which is even worse! But tonight the kids had their school disco, a fancy dress disco in fact. Tom had the idea to be a Zombie, and he kept himself to it .. constructing his own costume, and then I helped him along with some facepaint. I bought William a Ben10 costume which is very impressed about, and I know will get lots of use ..

Here they are getting ready to go …

Extravaganza

Jordan has been so excited about his Year 5-6 Extravaganza at school. They were doing a Michael Jackson tribute and have been practising for weeks. He had all the songs on his iPod and listened to them constantly (also singing along all the time!)

Anyway it is hard to take decent photos, and I had to edit them a bit to take out all the other kids .. but you see him getting into here ..

Tweet Tweet’ to Rockin’ Robin!

singing ‘Ben’ (this was my favourite, and I think one of Jordan’s as well)

They did quite a few other songs, but with so many kids they only got to be ‘featured’ in a couple. It was stinking hot, the hall was shocking, but they kids had an absolute ball, and they did so well! I am so proud of him, his teacher told me that he was one of the real ‘participants’, as many kids got stage fright, but not him!

Learning Journeys

Term 3 reporting procedures at schools seem to be called Learning Journeys these days, basically it is an open day in the school, classes have work from the term out and availabel for parents to see. Sometimes they may do a presentation or performance (the Year 6′s sang for us today which was pretty good!).

Generally though it is a wonderful opportunity for your child to take pride in their work and their school! I just had my point and shoot camera with me so I didn’t take many photos (it isn’t great for inside shots). I did get a nice one of Will and his teacher but seeing as I haven’t asked her I better not share that one, but I also snapped this great one of Tom & Jordan!

Questacon with Kindy

Gotta love school excursions, and Kindergarten’s special excursion this year was to Questacon. I must admit I was exhausted by the end of the day, but it was fantastic. Beautiful weather meant that we enjoyed lunch outside with a run around on the grass, and of coruse we loved exploring in Questacon. Obviously most of the photos I took are of other children so I can’t share them, but here are a few candid shots of Will.

School Excursion Time

We went on a school excursion to the National Zoo & Aquarium today. Lovely day for it, although a little cool! My group of 5 kids were more or less well behaved, except for the odd few times where they dissappeared on me, luckily only to turn up around the corner!

Here is young Tom on the bus ..

William and Iggy!

William’s class has the gorgeous dragon that goes home with different children for visits. The children then write stories and draw pictures about what they got up to with Iggy whilst he was staying with them. Now William has been desperate to have Iggy, we me quite often taking him home in tears because he wants his turn!

Well, you should have seen his face when he arrive home today. Because I had a sick one home again (yes I know, there is always one!), Jordan and William walked home together and it was finally William’s turn to bring home Iggy and let him share a weekend with us! It is so cute, he hasn’t left his side. I got home from taking Jordan to guitar lessons and William started telling me everything that Iggy had done so far, clearly stated that “He didn’t come alive, we were just pretending!

So here is the first photo I have taken of William and Iggy, although I am sure there will be plenty more over the weekend. At the moment Iggy is sitting on my computer desk with me, taking a break from all the cuddles I think! (Although as I typed that William came and grabbed him to come and join him on the cross-trainer).
