Ugh, it’s hot! I mean it isn’t unbearable actually, we don’t have an air-conditioner but it really isn’t overly bad, but yes it is a tad warm. There is also something about the heat in Canberra, well the sun atleast, it seems hotter. I know that is weird, but 27c here feels a hell of lot hotter than 27c in Adelaide. I am not sure if that is because I have already become aclimatised to Canberra’s cooler climate, or there is something penetrating about the heat. I know the sun feels harsher here, but anyway atleast it cools down beautifully overnight, still getting down to 10c some nights, and really the house doesn’t warm up until late afternoon even at 37c which it has been today, and by then it is only a couple of hours before it starts to cool down again!
So far the school holidays have been quite good, I have been fairly strong about restricting computer/wii/DS use, although some days they have been on it more than I would like, but overall they haven’t been ‘screen junkies’. We have done some cool stuff, making mobiles, crafting with boxes, playing Mousetrap, the boys had the Knex out for a while today and they have been modelling with plasticine. I did book them into some of the school holiday activities put on by the ACT Public Library Service, and today was the first of them. We ventured out somewhere new, found another playground with some seriously cool equipment, a spinning thing I had not seen before (dang! I didn’t have my camera with me) and checked out the Kippax Library. The activity today was a presentation from the Dinosaur Museum, which was pretty cool, she was a great presenter and I think managed to make it interesting for the vaste age range (5-12). On Friday we are off to Pirate School at the Gungahlin Library!
There is now two and a bit weeks left of the holidays, and I must admit it has been pretty good. I guess they are older now and for the most part play amongst themselves fairly well. They even managed to clean up today without too much hassling. And with school starting, William will go off to big school as well, it is a bit sad, no more babies at home!
And now time for today’s photo, and I just managed to snap this one in time, as when I went to look just before it had all been destroyed by little 5 year old fingers! Here is what was the boys plasticine creation.
