Again, its been a few weeks since I participated. This time last week we were enjoying a sunny holiday in Queensland, swimming in pool and relaxing int he sun. Right at this moment I am sitting at my computer desk, ugg boots on, jumper on, blanket wrapped around me. Jordan is sick, with a temperature, he can’t take a paracetamol because he has been throwing up so we turned the heater down. Hence I am cold .. but I digress.
Today’s PhotoHunt theme is orange, so I had to share an older photo or two of mine …
The first one is one of my favourites, it was taken at the Woodhouse 50th Birthday Celebrations in 2007. Don’t ya just love the bright orange flames!

The next two photos were taken in 2004, and we of our tiny Orange tree .. it has since grown quite a lot, and now is actually probably a lot taller still. Since it’s been 18 months since we moved away from Adelaide.

I do miss having a garden that I feel free to potter in. Renting is hard because you just can’t tear up garden beds and start again. But I am planning on doing a little bit with the garden, maybe this week …

Photo taken at the Adelaide Zoo, 11th March 2008
So majestic looking! It is hard to believe that they don’t really know how old the flamingoes at Adelaide Zoo are. They know they are about 80 years old seeing as they have been at the Zoo since the 1930′s. Apparently after these two birds die they are unlikely to be able to replace them because of the quarantine restrictions. In October last year these birds were beaten by a group of teenagers. I still don’t get !? Anyway I just like the picture, I found it whilst I have been sorting through my photos, so I thought I would share.

What is Good Friday all about, well for someone like me who is not all that religious, it is about spending time with family and friends. Getting together with those people that you love, and maybe have not seen for some time!
So we managed to catch up with family, the boys spent some time with Samara and Amalie, mind you we couldn’t get a good photo and this photo of all of them being silly is the best we could get.

Lots of fun had this morning!
Then we had friends around, I am so glad we are able to touch base again, it is one of the things we miss so much!
After lunch we were off to the playground, of course …

Kirsten & Ramsay are having a blast, don’t ya think? We didn’t make it to Marshmallow Park, but still lots of laughs were had!
And of course, my boys climbing, running, exploring …. well just being my boys …

And a beautiful Sand-Angel …

So that was our Good Friday .. I hope your day was as beautiful as mine, and even if you aren’t religious you have used it as a day of reflection!

Well, I finally made it to the Japanese Garden this morning. Jordan decided to come with me and we enjoyed some quiet time together. He loves to have ‘chat time’ with his mum, and I must admit I enjoy it to!

It was so peaceful and quiet there, Jordan and I really enjoyed it! He kept telling me it was so relaxing and beautiful, and he was so pleased he decided to come with me. lol!

Then there was the obligatory playground … Sam and the boys had already wandered down there!

The drama-queen at work, he looks in so much pain, but he wasn’t. Tom & Jordan were spinning on that spinner thing (that is the technical name for it, isn’t it?) and they went a tad too fast and Tom went flying. Mind you he got up and went on it again!

Then on the walk home we went down the otherside of the road, so when we reached the words we played on the new ones! I kind of like this shot, something about the word “Dreams” evokes emotions with my boys climbing all over it!

So that has been my day today, I took a nap, felt worse that I did to begin with, and am now sitting in the peace and quiet, as Sam and the Boys have gone down to the playground again!

Marshmallow Playground, yep, would you believe that it is what it is called. LOL I am not sure at all why it is called that, but that was truly it’s name. I even found an online reference .. Marshmallow Playground. Jordan and I had wanted to go to a walk to the Japanese Garden, but as we closed in on the entrance, William spied the Playground across the road, so we our route was changed. I must admit I was not happy, not being in a good mood to start with I didn’t need that, but after watching the kids play, and laughing and enjoying, well my mood improved.
On the walk down …

Ok, so the photo is absolutely shocking, I don’t have my tri-pod with me … oh well .. I didn’t want to use my flash so this is what you get, the view from the in-laws balcony, at about 8.30 at night (Adelaide, non-daylight savings time)..

Just been playing around with photos of flowers that I have taken. I have probably posted some of these elsewhere, but I added my black frame, so you get to see them again.

I have also added a few pages, one for each of the boys with some layouts that I have created. You can see the links up the top.

This is my absolute favourite photo of me and Jordan, on his 1st birthday, almost 10 years ago! I can’t believe he is almost 11.

As I was sitting here, casually sorting out photos, updating blogs and websites I had a thought to see what was happening this time last year. Now Jordan was off sick the other week with his swollen Parotid Gland, unfortunately it is a fairly regular occurrence in this house, he has a medical condition called Juvenile Recurrent Parotitis. Extremely painful, and as the name suggests recurrent. Think of mumps, but as a bacterial infection instead of a viral one, so its not contagious, just as painful, just as swollen (as you can see), and then imagine your child getting mumps every 3-4 months. Since he was 3 1/2 years old, Jordan has had 40 attacks, some not as severe as others thank goodness, but still painful, and still debilitating.
Anyway I knew that his recent attack coincided with one he had last year, one that landed us in hospital for 4 days, but I forgot how bad last years looked. These were photos that I took of Jordan, this day last year, just before we headed into the hospital.

I would love to see your ‘On this Day’ photos, hopefully they are more cheerful than mine, and obviously I am not going to be a stickler if it is off by a few days
Leave a comment and I will come by and visit.
